Message Notes

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens?

Isaiah 40:12

Make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out.  This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high.  Make a roof for it and finish the ark to within 18 inches of the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks.

Genesis 6:14-16

David gave Solomon the plans of all that the Spirit had put in his mind for the courts of the temple of the Lord and all the surrounding rooms, for the treasuries of the temple of God and for the treasuries for the dedicated things.  “All this,” David said, “I have in writing from the hand of the Lord upon me, and he gave me understanding in all the details of the plan.”

1 Chronicles 28:12,19

Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them. Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.

Exodus 25:8-9

The sanctuary is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”

Hebrews 8:5

Life is a handicap event.  We can’t get to our destination without the help of others.

~ Leonard Sweet, 11 Indispensable Relationships You Can’t Be Without

Because it is impossible to see ourselves accurately from every vantage point, we need to learn how to access the perceptions of those around us.  We need mirrors in the form of the people in our lives who can help us see from a variety of angles and allow us to see ourselves accurately.

When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong.  Before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group.  The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray.

Galatians 2:11-13

… many advisers make victory sure.

Proverbs 11:14

“Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”  The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”  This happened three times.

Acts 10:14-16

Only by pride comes contention: but wisdom is found in those who take advice.

Proverbs 13:10

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God’s elect, strangers in the world, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood.

1 Peter 1:1-2
