Message Notes

The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord; they forgot the Lord their God … But when they cried out to the Lord, he raised up for them a deliverer, Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, who saved them.
Judges 3:7,9

Once again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord …

Again the Israelites cried out to the Lord, and he gave them a delivererβ€”Ehud, a left-handed man, the son of Gera the Benjamite.
Judges 3:12,15

After Ehud died, the Israelites once again did evil in the eyes of the Lord. Because Sisera had nine hundred iron chariots and had cruelly oppressed the Israelites for twenty years, they cried to the Lord for help.
Judges 4:1,3

β€œA man planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a pit for the winepress and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and went away on a journey.Β  At harvest timeΒ he sent a servant to the tenantsΒ to collect from them some of the fruit of the vineyard. But they seized him, beat him and sent him away empty-handed. ThenΒ he sent another servant to them; they struck this man on the head and treated him shamefully. He sentΒ still another, and that one they killed. He sentΒ many others; some of them they beat, others they killed.”
Mark 12:1-5

β€œHe had one left to send, a son, whom he loved. He sent him last of all, saying, β€˜They will respect my son.’”
Mark 12:6

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you,Β how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing.
Matthew 23:37

β€œBut the tenants said to one another, β€˜This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ So they took him and killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard.”
Mark 12:7-8

If anyone else thinks he has reasons toΒ put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for legalistic righteousness, faultless.Β
Philippians 3:4-6

I consider themΒ rubbish, that I may gain ChristΒ  and beΒ found in him, not having aΒ righteousness of my ownΒ that comes from the law, but that which isΒ through faith in Christβ€”theΒ righteousness that comes from GodΒ and is by faith.Β
Philippians 3:8-9
