Message Notes

Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging.

1. Bartimaeus Recognized Who He Was Dealing With.
When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

2. Bartimaeus Was Bold & Unashamed.
When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
Mark 10:48
“Yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!”
Luke 18:5
And will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?
Luke 18:7
4. Bartimaeus Was Honest.
“What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I WANT TO SEE.”
Mark 10:51
“Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
