October 20, 2024

Message Notes

EN means “to cause to be” or “to put into” a particular state or condition … as in endear, ensure, entrust.
Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
Genesis 1:7
The man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
Genesis 3:8
Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”
Luke 5:8
The Pharisees asked Jesus’ disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?”  On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.  But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Matthew 9:11-13
All of us have become like one who is unclean,  and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.
Isaiah 64:6
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple.  Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
Isaiah 6:1-4
“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, AND my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”
Isaiah 6:5
No man knows how bad he is until he has tried very hard to be good. CS Lewis
Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar.  With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is TAKEN AWAY and YOUR SIN ATONED FOR.”
Isaiah 6:6-7
Atoned (kippēr): ‘to cover’. The correct sum of money ‘covering’ a debt, i.e. cancelling by an adequate payment.
We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.  God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that IN HIM we might BECOME THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD.
Romans 5:20-21
Being found IN HIM, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.
Philippians 3:9
